Biography & Career Highlights:
Yan left Newburgh Free Academy (NY) as the school record holder with 81 career goals.
He earned All County honors all four letter years and All League as a Sophomore. Yan led his team
to Section XI and Class A titles in 2001. He was voted team MVP his senior year of high
school leading to his first year (2003) at the University at Albany (NY). During that first year at Albany,
he earned America East All Rookie honors while tying for the team lead in points with four goals and
one assist. Yan was America East Rookie of the Week with goals against both Siena (9/13)
and Lafayette (9/17). In 2004, Yan had four goals and one assist in a season shortened by injury on 10/6/04.
Three of those four goals were game winning goals against Siena (9/10), Marist (9/19) and UMBC (9/25).
In 2005, Yan was a Second Team All-America East Selection and Third Team NSCAA All New York Region
Choice. Yan scored five goals (team leader) and one assist that year while also scoring his seventh
career game winning goal. In 2006, Yan has been named America East Player of the Week and
to the Soccer America magazine's Men's Team of the Week after scoring goals in four consecutive
games including conference opponent game winners against UMBC (9/27) and Stony Brook (9/30). The University at Albany finished the 2006 Season 7-9-2 with a 5-3 Conference record going into the Double overtime loss to
Boston University in the quarter finals of the conference tournament on October 29, 2006. Yan
was named to the All America East Conference Second Team for the second straight year in a row.
Yan ends his career with 39 points comprising of 17 goals and 10 assists. |
